Toys are a great way for guinea pigs to have some activity in their day as well as keep their teeth healthy. There are so many different things that your guinea pig can use to occupy their time while including some yummy treats!
Hay balls- One thing that I highly recommend are toys that have hay! Hay makes up over 80% of a guinea pig’s diet and some guinea pigs do not eat as much as they need. Most places like Petco and Amazon will have a lot of toys around Hay but I would avoid them if possible. The quality of the hay is not as good as Small Pet Select’s toys. I personally have toys of hay for my guinea pig’s and they love pushing them around. If it is a hollow toy I will also put carrot shaving and other veggies for the best of both worlds!

Wood- Guinea pigs love chewing on hard things and wood is something i recommend for anyone with guinea pig’s. There are a few ways you can incorporate wood in your guinea pigs life such has hanging toys, balls, and even their houses can be made from wood! A house made from wood or compacted hay is a must in my book for your guinea pig. The plastic huts that most pet stores recommend are not good for the health and teeth of your little piggies.
Overall Rule: NEVER BUY ANYTHING THAT HAS DYE IN IT! This in included food, hay, treats, and even wood!
Hanging fabric- Fabric hanging from the top of your guinea pigs cage can be fun for them to run through and can also be seen as a safe place. Having something that moves and makes them feel safe can also get them use to having human touch. The fabric is not hard so the movement and warmth can make them more comfortable whenever humans hold them. This toy is easily cleanable and can be moved to various parts of their cage. Cant hang things due to lack of Get creative with it! I would love to see the creations you come up with!
DO NOT LET YOUR GUINEA PIGS PLAY IN HAMSTER BALLS! Even though the package might say that it is for guinea pigs, the hols can break their legs. The shape of the ball can also harm the spine of the guinea pig and cause serious damage and might even kill them.
Please do your research and ask as many questions as needed before giving your guinea pigs toys!
